The main room is a loop; keep walking and you'll get back to where you started.

Going right from the ladder:

• A manhole leading to A Steamy Cavern.
• Door to the Freezer Room. Gain access with 6^ish Moxie.
• Door to the Laundry Facility.
• A rat on a shelf. Bring him some cheeses in exchange for random rings.
  • Possible cheeses are: Cheez Loaf, handful of cream cheese, squirrel cheese, gator cheese, government cheese, or (if a Cheese Wizard) conjured cheese.
• Door to S.I.T. (Greenhouse), barred from the other side.
• A radio.
• Door with the sign scraped off, leading to Rufus' Lab.
• Insectologist: Gather phlogistic resin.
• Door with a combination lock, leading to Vampire Nest.
• A toolbox. Find toolbox items and anarchist's hardware (2).
• Hobo glyphs. With 8 Hobo Literacy, decipher "TRY ORDERING STUFFED PEPPER STYLE" to unlock a new menu item in the Secret Underground Restaurant.
• Door to the Secret Underground Restaurant.
• Find sneakers in a shoebox.
• Door to a ladder to a trap door to Hexrock Mine Central Chamber, barred from the other side.
• Door to Secret Steam Tunnel Room labeled "Spider Wing Maint. Access". Gain access with a fuse.

Barbecue Wing Freezer Room

• Find Short Stories of Long Winters on the floor.
• In the freezer, find a:
  • frozen fish branch as a Pig Skinner
  • frigid ice-cream scoop as a Cheese Wizard
  • projectile icemaker as a Jazz Agent

Laundry Facility

• Launder the Mob's bag of dirty Meat and the milkman's dirty secret here.
• A shadow pouch.

Destroy the vampires for the Mob. Your options:

• Fight them.
  • Hot Armor and/or immunity to Bleeding (e.g. from a bludel) might be helpful.
  • Cold Damage is super effective. Check the freezer room for a cold weapon.
• Examine the boiler. With 15 Mysticality (highly improbable until late in the game, and even then it's a stretch), defeat the vampires by convincing them the steam hurts them.
• Load a giant holy ice cube into the boiler:
  • Examine the boiler and say you'll come back later, maybe with 100 gallons of holy water.
  • Ask the vicar at St. Polycarp's Cathedral about holy water.
  • Enter the Refrigerator Factory and pull a giant ice cube out of the fridge on the right side.
  • Have the vicar bless the ice cube. Haul it to the Steam Tunnels and pop it in.

You can fish in the boiler to get handful of steam.

Secret Steam Tunnel Room

• Find S.I.T. sports letter, S.I.T. barometer necklace, or S.I.T. puzzle ring in the locker. (depends on class?)

Notes

• Bug: After you ask him about holy water, the vicar will only talk about (or bless) the water for the rest of the game. This makes it impossible to complete his quest or to get the strange memorial card which is necessary for one way to win the game.
