Portrait will.png You ever hear of a... a "doc... tor?" D'you know what that is?

At his Treehouse, Will Hunter tells you he was cursed into a tree, because he didn't paint the fences he said he would. You can free him from this curse.

Quests

Greet Will (the tree) with:

  • Any introduction
  • "What's up there?"
  • "Can you let me up?"

Then either climb the tree with 7ish Muscle, or earn 10 XP by appealing to his curiosity:

  • "You need to let me up." (7ish Moxie)
  • "I can't tell you. It's a secret."
  • "No, you're not old enough." or "No, you wouldn't want to know anyway."

Will lets down the ladder for you.

Go up the tree and chat with him, eventually asking "Can you end this curse?" and offering to help. (Scout's Honor: "Leave it with me, little guy.) (Meat-Minded: "Meat rules everything over me. Let's talk about my reward.")

Grab Will's paint and brush from the knapsack to the right. Paint at least three fences at the following locations:

Each fence (just the three) awards 15 XP. Return to Will for 35 XP and a not-so-shiny marble.

You get the Fence Capitalist perk if you paint all 10 of them.

Locations

Will's Treehouse

Most conversation options are simply conversation and won't anger Will or lock you out of anything. However, "You need to let me up." (7ish Moxie) can only be attempted once. Your response options:

  • "Aiding my vital mission against the forces of evil.": Will refuses to let you up.
  • "You like Meat, kid?": Will refuses to let you up.
  • "As much milk as your belly can hold.": Will refuses to let you up.
  • "I can't tell you. It's a secret."
    • "No, you're not old enough.": Success.
    • "No, you wouldn't want to know anyway.": Success.
    • "All right. Basically I want to use the telescope.": Will refuses to let you up.

If he refuses, you can still just climb the tree with enough Muscle.

Notes

  • Will tells you his curse began in July 1876. If you check The Watchful Eye Office for that time, you learn a murder trial ended in mistrial when the star witness was metamorphosed into a tree.
