Enter Ms. Brewster's Home for Travelling Salesmen and find Ms. Brewster and six of her salesmen tenants in an agitated discussion. There's been a murder.

Quests

• Offer to help, take the key to room 3C, and go upstairs to investigate that room.
• Check underneath the throw rug to reveal an occult ritual circle.

Report to Ms. Brewster. She notes that one of her tenants is an occult goods salesman, but she can't remember which room he's in. Your task is now to interview the salesmen (through the doors, as none of them will leave their room in this horrid circumstance) and figure out which one is the occult salesman. It's a logic puzzle along the lines of an elimination grid. Get absurdly specific clues from each door to work out where each salesman is. Salesmen you have encountered during wander events (the pants, pistols, and sunglasses guys) recognize you when you knock on their door. This can make the puzzle a bit easier.

• You don't have to question anyone at all if you don't want to.
• When you're ready, tell Ms. Brewster you've figured it out. Everyone convenes in room 3C to hear your deduction.

Clues

Room 2A: The occult salesman isn't in the room above me. He doesn't live at the same end of the hall as the victim, either. Room 2B: The trinkets salesman lives above the pistols salesman. Room 2C: No answer. Speak with Ms. Brewster again to learn this is her room. Room 2D: The occult salesman doesn't live below the sunglasses salesman. Neither of them are the victim. Room 3A: The gags salesman lives on this floor. The pants salesman doesn't live below me. Room 3B: The gags salesman doesn't live next to the man who lives above the brushes salesman. Room 3C: The victim's room. The pool of blood is shallower than expected. There's an occult ritual circle on the floor. The window is locked. The wardrobe is locked. Room 3D: The brushes salesman lives next to the pants salesman.

If you announce the correct solution, Ms. Brewster pays you 25 and you earn an achievement. You get 16 instead if you name the right guy but miss a certain detail (see solution below). Regardless of your answer, one of the salesmen gives you a FOOTS ring and you earn 10 . You can also talk to Ms. Brewster one more time to gain access to her bathroom.

Solution
Name the guy in 3B as the occult salesman. You're pretty sure he didn't kill anyone. In fact, there was no murder at all. The blood pool is shallow because it's rubber fake blood. The occult circle was planted to sell the gag. And the wardrobe is locked because the gags salesman is hiding there.

Interactions

Going upstairs is no longer possible once you complete the quest.

• You can try fishing in the blood, but it's too shallow.
• You can investigate the ordinary washbasin:
  • Find a mirror .
  • Fish in the washbasin for a handful of clean water.
• You can investigate the throw rug and pull it back.
