Molly Buttons is a companion in Shadows over Loathing, she is part of the mob and joins the player when they accept their first mission from Don Toblerone.

Personality

Molly was known to be one of Don Toblerone hired guns.

Recruiting

After accepting Don's first task at the start of Day 2 from the telephone, Molly will wait outside Murray's Antique Shop. Accepting her aid (you do not need to put her as active companion) will make her a possible companion.

Abilities

Occasionally during wander, she will do a few shooting around laid cans (and along with you if you are playing as the class Jazz Agent), which increase both yours and her Moxie.

She may often improve her tommy gun, increasing the damage done with 'Tommy Spray.

Combat

• Tommy Spray : Molly shoots a random enemy for 1 damage 8 times
• Cap Knee : Molly hits an enemy in the knees , dealing damage and decreasing enemy Muscle by 3 (upgradable)
• Knife Trick : Unlocked by visiting Molly's Childhood Home, does 2 damage and bleeds all enemies

After some combat, Molly gets an upgrade: Molly's Cap Knee attack now deals 5 extra damage.

Wandering in Government Valley, Molly gets an upgrade: Molly's Tommy Spray hits 3 additional times.

Companion Vignettes

First vignette

When visiting Gray County, Molly will tell the player that she will visit her old childhood home, during the visit molly vents her frustration over her father and the bleak surroundings she grew up with by shooting the place, when shooting the mailbox Molly will notice some mail telling her that her girlfriend Nancy (who is in jail after a failed bank robbery) that she will be transported to a mental asylum, panicking Molly returns to the player asking them for help .

Second vignette

After returning to Ocean City after part 1, Molly -- embarrassed -- will ask the player for 1000 in order to buy a cake filled with tools to help her girlfriend escape. You can visit Madeline's Cake and File. Talk to Madeline about the Alcatraz Special and Molly's Muscle increases by 1. After buying the cake, Molly urges the player to tell her if they find her girlfriend.

Charlestown State Pen

In Government Valley , The Player can find Nancy in cell 3C in Charlestown State Pen. there The Player can talk to Nancy which will trigger the final part of Molly's quest if the player paid her , Molly and Nancy Finally reunite and are ecstatic to see each other, Molly will then give Nancy the cake and before leaving Nancy gives her an amulet of a bullet with N.B carved in it , ending the Companion vignette.

Notes

• Molly tends to call you either kitty (if you use a female pronoun), tiger (if you use a male pronoun), or sugar (if you use a neutral pronoun) compared to other companions.

In the game's Ending, instead of Molly robbing the bank alone, Nancy also joins her with narration saying that both of them became the most notorious bank robbers in history and were last seen in Bolivia.

Trivia

• During a random conversation between Molly and the player where the player jokes that Molly's tommy gun is her boyfriend, molly reveals that she has a girlfriend and tells them her name. The revelation increases her Muscle by 1.

• Nancy McGill is a reference to Rocky Raccoon by the Beatles. At one point Molly calls her "Li'l Nancy McGill".

• In a Wander event in S.I.T. Campus, Porkham Molly references a meme about how a trebuchet can throw a 90kg projectile over 300 meters.
