In his journey through Hell, Coldridge recounts the fiendish punishments given to those persons who tormented him in life: Adam Smith, the newspaper tax collector, a person from Porlock. In death, all are cursed to see water everywhere, but never be allowed to drink it. This same sanction does not afflict Coldridge because he has Coldridge's Armor.
