- This plant is likely named after the condition evidenced by broken capillaries that make a person's nose or face red (caused by too much drinking).
- The plant is also a anod to the Gin Blossoms, a '90s band from Tempe, Arizona. At one point in the game, it says that it is rare to find them so far away from their natural habitat, Allison Road. This is a reference to the Gin Blossoms song, Allison Road.
