Barker is a companion in Shadows over Loathing. Barker can be obtained from Professor Kalos' Holiday Home, after choosing a Botany major at S.I.T. (Chapter 3).

Personality
Barker was created among the litter of plant pups as an plant-engineered animal. His creator (Professor Kalos) however, went insane after becoming one with the plant.
Recruiting
Barker can be found guarding the entrance to his master's greenhouse. You can attempt to attack it, but it will remove him as potential companion.
To be able to recruit him as one, find the dog bowl inside the shack nearby, fill it with plant food, and give it to him.
Abilities
Occasionally during wander events across the other maps, Barker will experience an increase in his stat.
- Ocean City Wander Events: Maximum HP increases by 5
- Crystaldream Lake Wander Events: Maximum HP increases by 5
- S.I.T. Wander Events: Barker's Muscle increases by 1.
- The Big Moist Wander Events: Barker's Petal Chomp now deals 3 additional damage.
- Gray County Wander Events: Barker's Howl now decreases all enemy stats
- Government Valley Wander Events: Barker gains 3 HP regen.
He will also randomly give the player an item related to plant, which if Cryptobotany is picked as minor specialization, be examined further for useful items for crafting. He will around while wandering Gray country and give Mana-Enriched flour. You can also talk to him when he starts barking, increasing his Mysticality by 1.
Combat
- Petal Chomp: Barker will bite an enemy for 5 Physical Damage.
- Primordial Howl: Barker will reduce all foes' Mysticality by 3.
- Pollen Spew: Barker will spew pollen on your enemies, Poisoning them for 1.

First vignette
Visit Crystaldream Lake: you can visit Your Old Home! Wow!. Eat the flowers to learn Pollen Spew.
Second vignette
Then, visit Gray County: you can visit A Familiar Smell!. Explore the dog house to get Old Dog's collar and Barker's Muscle increases by 1.
