Alexandria is a woman who loves books. Her house was shelled by the military in the nearby Fort Treason. She managed to save her rare book collection by placing it in an underground bunker after receiving a warning from Pvt. Matthau that her property would be shelled by the commander of the fort who was suffering from cabin fever.
After acquiring a key-shaped El Vibrato device she can be rescued from a portal on her ranch. She can then be convinced to move to Dirtwater and set up a bookstore.
It is implied that she was sucked into the portal and her house destroyed well before the events of the game, as she had no idea the Cows had come Home.
